Description

Southwood Court, located on Bigwood Road, is a building designed by architects C G Butler and J C S Souter. It features an almshouse type layout and was constructed in the 20th century using purple brown brick with red brick dressings. The building has hipped tiled roofs and is two storeys high. It includes sash windows with transoms. Each block has a central feature that projects forward and contains pedimented two-light dormers, supported by side lights. The doorways are adorned with architraves and bracketed hoods. Southwood Court is noted for its layout, group value, and design.
