Description

Meadway Court is a block of flats designed by G. L. Sutcliffe in 1913, located on Meadway, in the Hampstead Garden Suburb. Constructed using Flemish bond brickwork with stone dressings, the building is in a simplified Tudor revival style, arranged on a U-shaped plan with two courtyards. A hipped, tower-like stair range marks the transition between the courtyards. The building is two storeys high with a variety of dormers. Stair halls are located in the end pavilions, at the center of the north end (marked by a gabled dormer), and in the corners behind a canted range. A continuous arcading runs along the courtyards, featuring elliptical-arched openings topped with a parapetted walkway. Tall brick stacks are present. The rear elevations are simpler in design but retain architectural character. The windows are leaded casements and the doors are of an authentic design.
