Description

This house, located at 12 Temple Fortune Lane, was built between 1908 and 1910 according to designs by Edward Palser. It features painted render and a tiled roof with swept boxed eaves and tile-flat gable kneelers. The openings are flat arched and contain original leaded casement lights set in a mullion and transom frame. The house is two stories high and has a three-window range on the long elevation facing Palser Square, with the center range projecting to form a gable. There is one window range on the right return, with a shallow polygonal bay on the ground floor and a rectangular bay on the left. The entrance is located under a porch on the short return of the facing gable. The dimensions and arrangements of the windows vary to create an asymmetrical design. There is a square brick stack at the inside corner of the projecting range and another stack at the rear of the left-hand range. This house is the only asymmetrical structure on the Square and serves as a transition point from Temple Fortune Lane. It is part of a notable group of buildings that includes Nos. 12-32 (even).
