Description

28, 30, and 32 Temple Fortune Lane are attached houses built between 1908 and 1910, designed by Edward Palser. They share the same materials and style as No. 12. The right-hand unit, which used to have its entrance on the side like No. 32, has been combined with the adjacent house to form No. 28.

These houses are two storeys high and feature a broad dormer in the center of the roof. The design is symmetrical, with a two-storey rectangular bay in the middle. Each house has an entrance; the left entrance has a round-arched recessed porch, while the right has a flat-arched door with a Tudor design and a canopy porch. Square lights enhance the plain surfaces of the façade.

The ends of the block are marked by projecting wings that finish in two-storey rectangular bays with chamfered corners, which lead to a broad-eaved oversail of the front hip of the roof. There are square chimney stacks flanking the center dormer on both the front and rear slopes of the roof. The entrance to No. 32 is located on the left return at the center of the gable end, flanked by hallway lights and set under a timber canopy porch. Above, there is a three-window range linked by moulded weathering with a tile fascia, and a stack on the left slope that continues as an outshut. The rear elevation features three gable-facing projections.

These houses are part of a notable group known as Palser Square, which includes Nos. 12-32 (even) Temple Fortune Lane.
