Description

Number 13 Erskine Hill is a building designed by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is constructed of grey brick with red dressings and stands two storeys high with three window bays. The central door is flanked by red brick pilasters and features a small cornice above a blind tympanum, which is decorated with a moulded plaster or wood arabesque in a baroque pattern. Above the door, there is a prominent staircase window that breaks into the roof as a half dormer. This window is framed by a projecting red brick structure and is topped with a pulvinated frieze, cornice, and pediment.

On the ground floor, the windows beside the door are typical sash windows, while the first-floor windows are casements set slightly recessed within the brickwork. A return elevation with two window bays overlooks the forecourt of Nos 10 and 12. The elevation facing Temple Fortune Hill features a brick canted bay that rises as a parapet above the eaves, with a semi-circular headed window set in red brick pilasters and an arch, complete with small springing and keystones. A dormer window is located behind the parapet, and there is a prominent chimney stack on this elevation.
