Description

This is a range of terraced houses at 1-7 Erskine Hill, dating from the mid-18th century and designed by Sir Edward Lutyens. The buildings are constructed of grey brick with red brick detailing and tiled roofs. They are two storeys in height with attics, and feature a hipped dormer. Although appearing as one block, the façade is deliberately varied with projecting and recessed sections, and the roofline also changes. The design is similar to the even-numbered houses at Nos 2-8 opposite, but with a reversed treatment. The architectural style incorporates Queen Anne detailing and sash windows. The composition is divided into three distinct masses, with the central section projecting as a hipped feature.
