Description
The gate piers, gates, and overthrow at Eliot House, formerly known as White Walls, were constructed in 1925 by P.D. Hepworth for Charles Ryan. The gate piers are made of whitewashed brick and feature a vertical panel that is set forward. They have a chamfered base and a moulded cap topped with a pyramid. The pair of wrought iron gates showcases intricate filigree work, with each central panel displaying an elephant, supported by a strong vertical frame and curved dog bars. The sinuous overthrow is also dated 1925. There was some recent work by Philip Hepworth in 1931. This structure is located in the Hampstead Garden Suburb Conservation Area on The Bishop's Avenue.
