Description
This is a pair of houses, numbers 10 and 12, built in 1935 as part of the Hampstead Garden Suburb, to designs by G. G. Winbourne. The houses are constructed of brick with painted render, and have flat roofs. They are in the International Modern style, with each house’s front elevation being identical. Each house has a recessed entrance range, with balconies to the first floor and a roof terrace; curved quadrants project to the sides. The windows are Crittall, with metal strip windows to the curved sections and French doors on the first floor. The original design doors feature a metal grille formed of French curves. Garages are incorporated into the outermost ranges, with the garage door for number 12 being of the original design. Numbers 10 and 12, along with numbers 1-13/15 (the odd numbers) and 2-18 (the even numbers) of Lytton Close, form a significant group of International Modern houses.
