Description
Numbers 16 and 18, along with their attached railings, are houses built in 1935 as part of the Hampstead Garden Suburb, designed by G. G. Winbourne. They are constructed of brick with painted render, and feature flat roofs. The windows are Crittall windows, and the houses are two storeys high, incorporating roof-top structures and glazed stair towers. Each house has a three-window range. They are roughly identical in design to numbers 10 and 12, and represent the International Modern style. The elevation includes a recessed entrance range, first-floor balconies, and a roof terrace. Curved quadrants project from the side ranges, with metal strip windows incorporated into the curves, and French doors on the first floor. Numbers 16 and 18, together with numbers 1-13/15 (odd) and 2-18 (even) on Lytton Close, form a highly significant group of International Modern houses.
