Description
The wall surrounding Golders Green Crematorium, along with its attached memorials and gates, was built between 1901 and 1911 based on designs by architects Ernest George and Alfred B Yeates. Constructed of brick with a brick plinth, the wall features short buttresses and square piers, topped with stone capstones. It has a crowstep parapet at two points and includes original design portcullis gates made of wood with metal hinges, as well as metal gates. The wall extends the full length of the crematorium and is broken at several points by gates. On the south face, in front of the East Chapel, there is a wall monument in Art Nouveau style with the inscription "Mors Janua Vitae," set within a round-arched recess. To the west, there is a memorial for Rose Mary Mary Crawshay, who died in 1907, featuring a marble wall slab and font, topped with a metal hood roof in an ogee shape.
