Description
5 and 6 Norfolk Road are a pair of semi-detached villas dating from around 1830, built as part of the Portland Estate development in St John's Wood. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed basement and stucco dressings, and have a slate roof. They are designed in an Italianate-Grecian style, with two storeys above a basement. Each villa is two windows wide, with narrower entrance bays on the outer sides. The doorways are pilastered and accessed by steps. The ground floor windows are tripartite sashes within architraves and cornices. First floor windows are framed by pilasters. A plat band runs above the basement, and a sill course defines the first floor; the roof has a low pitch and flat eaves. A corniced chimney stack sits at the centre. These villas are of a similar design to those on the adjoining Eyre Estate.
