Description

No. 7 Norfolk Road is a narrowly detached villa dating to approximately 1830-40, built as part of the Portland Estate development in St John’s Wood. The building is of stucco construction with a slate roof and displays Italianate-Grecian architectural detailing. It is two storeys high with a basement. The front elevation is three windows wide. A porch with Ionic columns and approached by steps is situated on the left side. The recessed sash windows are set within architraves and have cornices supported on consoles to the ground floor. A plat band runs above the basement. The building has overhanging eaves to a low-pitched hipped roof, and is punctuated by corniced chimney stacks. Ground floor windows are fitted with cast iron Grecian geometric pattern balconettes. The villa is of a similar type to other properties within the adjoining Eyre Estate.
