Description

Nos 11 and 12 Norfolk Road are a pair of semi-detached villas dating to circa 1830-40, constructed as part of the Portland Estate development in St John's Wood. They are built in an Italianate-Grecian style and are of stucco construction with a slate roof. The villas are two storeys high, with each having two windows wide and narrow, slightly recessed entrance bays. The doorways are sheltered by flat wooden hoods supported on brackets. The windows are margin-glazed sashes, with tripartite arrangements in architraves on the ground floor. A sill band runs along the first floor. The eaves overhang the roof, which has a low pitch and is hipped. Flanking corniced chimney stacks are present. The design is similar to other villas within the Eyre Estate.
