Description

No. 45 Reeves Mews is a mews house that was originally a stable-coach house for No. 45 Upper Grosvenor Street, dating from around 1730. The building features a brick construction with a concealed roof and stands two storeys tall, with a façade that is two windows wide facing the mews and includes garage doors. The front elevation, which is largely unaltered, is symmetrical and polite, facing north towards the main house. It is three windows wide, made of painted brick, and has full-height flanking brick piers.

The central doorway is depressed arched and includes a keystone, with impost strings connecting the semicircular arched windows on either side, which have glazing bars radiating to the heads of recessed sashes. The first floor features segmental arched glazing bar sashes flanking a central blind panel. A moulded cornice over the ground floor is broken over the flanking piers, and there is stone parapet coping that is also broken over these piers. This building is a rare example of a stable/coach house with a polite elevation from this period.
