Description
No. 6 Upper Grosvenor Street is an end-of-terrace townhouse built between 1825 and 1826 by Samuel Baxter. The building is constructed of stucco with a channelled ground floor and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall, including a basement and a dormered mansard, and is three windows wide.
The entrance is located on the right and is approached by two steps, featuring a recessed six-panel door with a patterned lunette fanlight above. The ground floor has semicircular arched windows, with the channelling extending to the arches. The upper floors are fitted with glazing bar sashes and French casements on the first floor, all set in shallow architraves, with the first-floor windows adorned with cornices. There is a first-floor balcony with an original delicate iron balustrade, and the building is topped with a crowning entablature that includes two pseudo antique busts. The area is enclosed by cast iron spearhead railings.
Inside, the property retains simple Regency mouldings despite some alterations, along with a geometric stone staircase featuring slender cast iron balusters.
