Description
These steps form a passageway between Old Queen Street and St James’s Park. They date from the late 17th century and are associated with the former Royal Cockpit, which was demolished in 1810. The steps were rebuilt in 1964 as part of the reconstruction of numbers 36 and 38 Old Queen Street. They consist of granite steps with flank walls made of red, multi-coloured brick. The steps form a curved flight. A Windsor lantern is mounted on a scrolled bracket on the west side of the flank wall.
