Description

A pair of terraced town houses located on the north side of Old Queen Street in the City of Westminster, likely rebuilt around 1800. The buildings are constructed of darkened brick with a slate roof. They rise five storeys, incorporate a basement, and have dormered mansard windows. Each house is three windows wide.

The entrances are on the right-hand side; No. 26 features a Doric columned portico-porch, a square-headed doorway with a panelled door, side lights, and a fanlight above. No. 28 has a semicircular arched doorway, a panelled door, side lights, and a later 19th-century bracketed hood, along with a radial patterned fanlight. The windows are recessed sash windows, retaining their original glazing bars in No. 26. These windows are set under gauged flat arches, with the first-floor windows of No. 26 set within a blind arcade. A stucco plat band defines the first floor. The façade is finished with a parapet and coping. Cast iron area railings, topped with urn finials, are present.

At the rear, overlooking St. James’s Park, are canted bays with cast iron balconies displaying a geometric patterned design.
