Description

Storey's Gate Lodge is a lodge located in St James's Park, built around 1840 by the Office of Works. It is constructed of stock brick with Portland stone dressings and features a slate roof. The building reflects a functional and plain neo-classical style. It is a single-storey structure with a rectangular plan, having two-window sides and an entrance that is flanked by windows at the south end. The entrance includes a panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, set within a stone doorcase adorned with Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a blocking course. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes framed by stone architraves. The lodge has a stone plinth, a crowning stone frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course. The hipped roof is topped with corniced chimney stacks.
