Description

Nos 32 and 33, Queen's Grove are a pair of semi-detached villas dating from approximately 1830 to 1840, built as part of the Portland Estate development in St John’s Wood. They are constructed of stucco with a slate roof and exhibit an Italianate style with vestigial Greek detailing.

The facades are asymmetrical. No. 32 has a two-window wide front, with a recessed outer bay containing the entrance and a studio wing addition. No. 33 has a three-window wide front, also with a recessed outer bay for the entrance.

Both properties are two storeys high with a low, gabled attic to the inner bay of No. 32. The ground floor of No. 32 features a 4-light casement window, while No. 33 has a two-window, panelled pilaster square bay. The first floor windows are architraved tripartite sashes. No. 32 has a round arched sash window in the attic. The houses share a low-hipped roof with flat eaves, raised to form a gable over No. 32. A central corniced chimney stack is present.
