Description

A pair of semi-detached villas located at 30 and 31 Queen’s Grove, dating from approximately 1830 to 1840. They were built as part of the Portland Estate development in St John’s Wood. The villas are constructed of stucco with a slate roof and are in an Italianate style, similar to number 27 Queen's Grove. They are two storeys high, with later attic dormers, and have a semi-basement level. Each villa has two windows wide, with recessed entrance bays. They feature Doric porches accessed by steps. The ground floor has tripartite windows with architraved surrounds and consoled cornices. The inner, advanced bays are framed by giant pilasters, linked by a shallow, segmental arch decorated with egg and dart moulding, beneath bracketed eaves of a hipped roof.
