Description
No 31 Bruton Street is a terrace house built around 1770. It features a red brick façade and a slate roof, rising to four storeys. The building has a main cornice at the third floor level, along with a cornice and blocking course at the attic storey. There are three windows on the front, including a mid-20th century shop window and a wooden doorcase with carved brackets. The upper floors have sash windows that are revealed with flat gauged arches and lack glazing bars. On the first floor, there are early 19th century cast iron balconettes. Inside, there is a cut string staircase with an intact wrought iron balustrade leading from the first floor upwards. The first floor drawing room retains its original features, including doors and doorcases with entablatures, a carved wood late Rococo chimneypiece, and cornices on the ceiling.
