GV II

Pair of terrace houses c.1739, probably by Isaac Ware, but No 28 with some later alterations and extra half bay. Brown brick. No 27 of 4 storeys with 3 dormers in slated mansard. Three windows. Ground floor has later C20 shop front with reproduction early C18 doorcase. Brick plat band between first and second floors and moulded brick cornice over the latter, parapet with coping. Revealed sashes with red- brick dressings and gauged flat arches. Interior retains open string staircase with carved tread ends and turned balusters. No 28 is of 3 storeys plus later alteration of 2 storeys of dormers. Three windows plus half window bay to first and second floors. Later C20 shop front. Plat band and cornice as on No 27-Revealed sashes with flat gauged red brick arches on first floor with cast iron balconettes. Half bay and upper floor windows segmental arched with red brick dressings. Segmental arched dormers. Interior has panelled stair-well with enriched Rococo plaster ceiling; open string staircase and carved tread ends and turned balusters.
