Description
Number 23 Upper Grosvenor Street is a terraced town house built between 1730 and 1732, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and early 20th century. The building is faced with stucco and has a slate roof. It stands four storeys high, with a basement and a dormered mansard, and features three windows across the front.
The entrance is located on the left side, featuring a square-headed doorway with a six-panel door and a rectangular fanlight. This is framed by thin pilasters with elongated console-brackets that support a cornice-hood. The windows consist of nearly flush sashes and casements set within shallow architraves. The first-floor windows have individual cornices, while the second-floor windows are adorned with shallow entablatures connected by a cornice string. The building is topped with a bracketed crowning cornice and a blocking course. There are wrought iron area railings in front.
Inside, the house has primarily Edwardian interiors that retain a few earlier mouldings and doorcases.
