Description
No. 94 Park Lane is a terraced town house rebuilt between 1823 and 1825 by builder Samuel Baxter. The building is stuccoed with a slate roof and consists of five storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard. It has a narrow two-bay front with the entrance on the left, featuring a six-panel door and a plain rectangular fanlight. The front is dominated by a slightly off-center bow that contains one broad tripartite window on each floor, with architrave surrounds to the sashes. A notable feature is the first-floor cast iron tent roof verandah-balcony, which has decorative pattern work in the spandrels. The bow is capped with a cornice above the third floor and creates a terrace with a low domed ironwork verandah over the fourth-floor window. The building is topped with a crowning cornice and a plain parapet, which is further enhanced by a stucco balustrade in front of the two dormers in the later heightened attic. The property also has spearhead area railings. The interior was largely redecorated in a French style in 1900 by Charles Mallier and Co., although some original elements of Baxter's cornices and friezes remain.
