Description
Nos 2 to 7 Stratford Place are a row of terrace houses built in 1774 by Richard Edwin. They are constructed of brown brick with stucco dressings and feature slate roofs. The buildings stand three storeys high, with a basement and dormered mansard roofs. Nos 2, 5, 6, and 7 each have three windows, while Nos 3 and 4 have four windows each. The windows and doorways have semicircular archivolt arches and are linked by an impost string course at the ground floor. The openings of No 7 are decorated with vermiculated rustication and stone voussoirs, while Nos 3 and 4 have a plain stucco finish. The upper floors feature revealed glazing bar sashes, framed by a giant order of Ionic pilasters that support a stucco entablature. There is a pediment over No 4 and balustraded parapets on the flanking houses, along with sill bands on the first and second floors. Wrought iron area railings complete the design. The terrace presents a symmetrical composition that balances the opposite side of this cul-de-sac leading to Stratford House.
