Description
Nos 12 and 13 Stratford Place are a pair of houses from a terrace on the west side of the forecourt of Stratford House, built in 1774 by Richard Edwin. They are constructed of stuccoed brick with slate roofs and have a design similar to Nos 8 to 10. The buildings are three storeys tall, with a basement and a dormered mansard roof. The façade features three windows on one house and five on the other. The ground floor has semicircular arched windows and doorways with archivolt arches that are recessed for one order, linking to an impost string. The first floor windows have alternate segmental and straight pediments, while the second floor windows have plain surrounds, all of which are sashes with glazing bars. There are plat bands and sill courses, a projecting cornice, and a parapet. Wrought iron area railings complete the design. This pair of houses is part of a symmetrical composition that balances the opposite side of the cul-de-sac leading to Stratford House.
