Description

This is a terraced town house located in Queen Anne Street, built around 1765 to 1775 as part of the Portland Estate development. The building is constructed of stock brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor, topped with a slate roof. It stands four storeys high with a basement, and has a width of three windows. A square-headed doorway is positioned on the right-hand side, featuring a stucco doorcase with Doric pilasters, a panelled door, and a rectangular fanlight above. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes. Those on the ground floor have vermiculated dressings and voussoirs, while those on the upper floors are set beneath flat, gauged arches, with bracketed sills on the first and second floors. An enriched plat band marks the top of the stucco work at the first floor level. The building has a stucco crowning cornice and blocking course. Original iron area railings from the early 20th century are present. The interior retains a stone geometrical staircase with a wrought iron balustrade, along with some good friezes, cornices, and ceilings.
