Description
No 34 Queen Anne Street is a terraced town house built around 1780-1790 as part of the Portland Estate development. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor and features a slate roof. It has a symmetrical front without columns, rising four storeys plus a basement, and is three windows wide. The central doorway is semicircular arched, flanked by similarly arched windows set within a blind arcade. The entrance includes a panelled door with a radial patterned fanlight. The upper floors have recessed sash windows beneath flat gauged red brick arches. A plat band finishes the ground floor stucco work, and there is a parapet with coping. The first-floor windows are fitted with renewed iron balconettes, and there are cast iron area railings with tasselled spearhead finials. Inside, the house retains a graceful geometrical staircase with a wrought iron balustrade, some delicate plasterwork, and marble chimneypieces.
