Description
Nos. 135 to 145 on Harley Street are terraced townhouses built around 1822-1825 as part of the Portland Estate development, likely designed by John White. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor and feature slate roofs. They rise four storeys, with some having dormered mansard roofs, while No. 143 has five storeys and basements. Each house has a three-window wide front.
The broad semicircular arched doorways are located to the right, except for No. 135, which is to the left. These doorways have Coade rustications and head keystones, with double panelled doors set in Grecian incised pilaster jambs and fanlights above, some of which are patterned. The first floor has recessed sashes within stucco architraves, and flat gauged arches above. Nos. 139 and 141 feature later 19th-century splayed oriels on the ground floor.
There is a plat band at the first floor level and parapets with stone copings. No. 141 has a stucco dentil cornice and a stucco band below the attic floor of No. 143. Geometric patterned cast iron balconies are present across the first floor, with balconettes on No. 143. The area railings are made of cast iron and topped with pineapple finials. The interiors have not been inspected.
