Description

TQ 2882 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER HARLEY STREET, W1 36/26 (West side) 14.1.70 Nos. 135 to 145 (odd) G.V. II Terraced town houses. c.1822-25 Portland Estate development probably by John White. Stock brick with channelled stucco ground floor; slate roofs. 4 storeys (some with dormered mansard) and No. 143 of 5 storeys, on basements. 3-window wide fronts. Broad semicircular arched doorways to right except for No. 135 to left, with Coade rustications and head keystones; double panelled doors in Grecian incised pilaster jambs and fanlights (some patterned) over cornice-doorheads. Recessed sashes, in stucco architraves on 1st floor and under flat gauged arches above; Nos. 139 and 141 have later C.19 splayed oriels on ground floor. 1st floor plat band and parapets with stone copings, No. 141 with stucco dentil cornice and stucco band below attic floor of No. 143. Geometric patterned cast iron balconies across lst floor, No. 143 with balconettes. Cast iron area railings with pineapple finials. Interiors not inspected.
