Description
Nos. 127 to 131 are terraced town houses located on Harley Street, built around 1822-1825, likely by John White for the Portland Estate. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with channelled stucco ground floors and feature slate roofs. They rise to four storeys, with a basement and dormered mansards, and each has a three-window wide front.
The left side of the houses has broad semicircular arched doorways, which are adorned with Coade stone rustications and head keystones. The entrances have double panelled doors set in Grecian pilaster jambs, along with fanlights, some of which are patterned. The first floor has recessed sashes framed in stucco architraves, with flat gauged arches above. A plat band runs along the first floor, and the parapets are topped with copings, with No. 127 featuring a bracketed cornice.
Across the first floors, there are cast iron balconies with geometric patterns, and the area railings are also made of cast iron, topped with pineapple finials. Inside, the houses have top-lit stone geometrical staircases with cast iron balustrades. No. 127 includes Grecian detailed plasterwork and marble chimneypieces among its interior features.
