Description
This is a detached house with an attached former studio, built in the late 19th century and altered over time. It features red brick, Portland stone, and buff terracotta, topped with a slate pitched roof that has a parapet. The building is two storeys high and three windows wide. The entrance is located on the north-east facade, which includes an attached pergola supported by stone columns and a richly moulded doorway. The former studio is two storeys tall and has square-headed windows decorated with pilasters, along with a moulded terracotta frieze. The roof is adorned with elaborate wrought iron finials. There are also large additions at the rear. This building is notable as the residence of the artist Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema.
