Description
The Queen Victoria Memorial is a Grade I listed memorial and fountain located on The Mall in the City of Westminster. It was designed between 1901 and 1911 by Sir Aston Webb, with sculpture work by Sir Thomas Brock. The memorial is made of marble and features bronze gilt, along with bronze allegorical figures and relief panels. The design includes a large central pylon that supports a giant seated figure of Queen Victoria, topped by a gilt winged victory. This central figure is flanked by two additional figures, all standing on a circular platform. The memorial also features six bronze groups and bas relief panels on the retaining walls, with fountain basins situated below.
