Description
These are a row of three terraced houses built around 1800 as part of the Portman Estate development in Westminster. They are constructed of stock brick with the ground floors finished in channelled stucco. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. The houses are four storeys high with a basement. Each front is three windows wide. The doorways are located to the left; No. 31 has a square headed doorway, while Nos. 32 and 33 have semicircular arched doorways with decorative stucco rustic blocks around the arches. Each doorway has a panelled door and a fanlight above. The upper floors feature recessed sash windows, all set beneath flat, gauged arches. A central window is blind on the top floors. A plat band marks the end of the stucco work on the ground floor. Nos. 31 and 32 have cast iron balconettes, and No. 33 has a continuous balcony with an anthemion pattern. Cast iron area railings are present, with flambé vase finials. The houses are included on the list primarily for their contribution to the group value of the street.
