Lamp post on corner of 13 Gayfere Street and 1 Smith Square

The lamp post located at the corner of 13 Gayfere Street and 1 Smith Square is a gas street light dating from 1910. It features an Eddystone column and a Rochester-type lantern made by Sugg Lighting Limited in the later 20th century.

The lamp post is made of cast iron and has a glazed lantern constructed from iron, spun copper, and enamelled steel. It consists of a tapering, fluted Eddystone column topped with an upright Rochester lantern. The base of the column displays the Westminster City Council crest on one side, while the opposite side features the royal cypher G V R along with the date 1910. The replacement lantern includes a circular drum and rain-shield above an inverted, six-mantle burner, which is enclosed in a teardrop-shaped glass with a drainage hole at the base. The entire assembly is held in place by an iron cradle with two curved stabilising uprights extending from the clock box.
