Description
No. 161 Wardour Street is a terrace house built around 1735, paired with No. 163. It is constructed of stock brick and has a slate roof, rising to four storeys and featuring two windows across its front. The ground floor has a fasciated restaurant front from the late 20th century. The upper floors display recessed later casements on the first and second floors, while the top floor has 19th-century sash windows, all set beneath flat gauged arches. Brick plat bands separate the upper storeys, and there is a parapet with stone coping. Although most original interior features have been altered, the upper flights of stairs, which are dog-legged, still retain turned balusters and a closed moulded string. There are also remnants of panelling, boxed cornices, and doorcases.
