Description
No. 10 Hill Street is a terrace house built around 1748 to 1750, with some alterations. It is constructed of yellow stock brick and has four storeys plus a basement, with a later addition on the top floor. The house features three windows and a stone cornice at the third floor level. The recessed sash windows and first-floor casements have gauged flat red brick arches and original glazing bars.
At the entrance, there is a prostyle Doric portico adorned with ox skulls and swags in the frieze panel, supported by fluted columns. The round-arched doorway includes imposts with lion masks, rosettes in the spandrels, a patterned radial fanlight, and a half-glazed double door. The doorway is flanked by narrow windows. A continuous, bracketed cast iron balcony on the first floor showcases an elaborate running floral pattern, and the property is enclosed by cast iron railings topped with urn finials.
