Description
No. 22 Hill Street is a terraced town house built around 1748 to 1750, with some alterations from the 19th century. The building features black painted brick and a channelled stucco ground floor, topped with a slate roof. It stands three storeys high, with a basement and a dormered mansard. A stone cornice and parapet adorn the top of the structure.
The house has four windows, which are revealed sashes. The ground floor windows have vermiculated voussoirs above their arches, while the second floor windows are framed with stucco architraves. There is a Victorian hotel entrance that has been inserted into the façade, flanked by Corinthian pilasters and ornate cast iron lamp standards. The property also includes cast iron area railings and a Victorian balustraded and bracketed balcony at the first floor level. The building suffered fire damage in 1984.
