Description
This building, located at 23-31 St Christopher's Place, was constructed in 1882 and is a block of tenements with shops designed in the Commercial Gothic style. It is five storeys tall and features red brick with cut brick detailing and some rendered areas, topped with slate roofs. The façade is 11 windows wide, with end pavilions and a slightly advanced off-centre gabled entrance pavilion. The entrance to the flats is pointed arched, while the shop fronts and deep-set first-floor sash windows are set within an arcade. The end pavilions showcase cusp-headed gabled portal features on the second and third floors. The top floor is rendered above the main cornice, with set-forward brick gables in the third, fifth, and ninth bays. An ornamented panel above the entrance to the flats is inscribed with "South St. Christopher's Buildings," and "1882" is inscribed on the first floor above.
