Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses, numbers 54 to 61, located on the north side of Kensington Gardens Square in the City of Westminster. The terrace is built of stucco and comprises four storeys, an attic, and a basement. Each house has three windows, closely spaced, across the front. The ground floor is characterised by channelling, and each house features a projecting Doric porch with a panelled door. The ground and third floor windows are square-headed; the other windows are round-headed and grouped in triplets, with shafting between each window. The first and second floor triplets have cornices, while the central windows of the second floor are topped with pediments. The windows are plate glass sashes. There is a console cornice above the third floor and a subsidiary cornice to the attic. Cast iron area railings are present. The terrace forms an integral element of the planned layout of Kensington Gardens Square.
