Description
These are a pair of terraced houses, numbers 47 and 48, and a single house, number 49, built around 1780 to 1800 as part of the Portman Estate development. The houses are constructed of stock brick with stuccoed ground floors, and extend over four storeys plus basements. Each house front is two windows wide. The doorways are to the left of each property; numbers 47 and 48 have semicircular arched doorways, while number 49 features a wooden doorcase with a dentil cornice and open pediment, panelled doors, and a fanlight. The upper floors have recessed sash windows, set beneath flat, gauged arches. A plat band runs above the stuccoed ground floor work. The roofline is finished with a parapet and stone coping. Curved wrought iron balconies with a geometric pattern are found on the first floor, and cast iron area railings with torch finials are present at street level.
