Description
The entrance gates and lodges with related walls at Queen Mary's Hospital were built in 1960 and feature elaborate wrought iron gates and an overthrow designed in an early 18th-century style. The gates are connected by plum and red brick quadrant walls, which include rusticated piers topped with stone caps and urns. Each lodge is two stories tall and designed in the style of Sir Edwin Lutyens, complete with pyramidal slated roofs. Although the lodges and gate piers were created by the London County Council Architect's Department, they are included in the listing because they are now an inseparable part of the overall design, which centers around Archer's Roehampton House.
