Description
The mausoleum in the grounds of Grove House is a mid-19th century structure designed in a finely detailed Romanesque style. It is laid out in the shape of a Greek Cross and is faced with stone. Each arm of the cross features an equiangular gable. The entrance arm has a flight of steps leading to a door that is recessed within a stepped surround of concentric arches supported by colonnettes, with flanking blind arches. The other arms display a large round-headed arch that frames coupled blind arches, which are flanked by narrower blind arches. A continuous foliate entablature band runs along the structure, complemented by raking cornices on the gables. Each gable is pierced by a bull's-eye window, which has a moulded surround and a dripstone.
