Description
Lusk's Wharf, also known as Lower Oliver's Wharf, is a 19th-century warehouse located at Wapping Wall. Built around 1860, this four-storey structure is made of stock brick and features identical facades facing both the street and the river. The building has symmetrical elevations with six bays, including hatch ranks in the second and fifth bays. Plat bands run above the ground floors, from which shallow brick giant pilasters rise on pedestals. The cap moulding of these pilasters continues as a cambered arch over each bay, creating a giant arcade effect. Shallow dies extend the line of the pilasters up to slight breaks in the parapet coping. The top floor has segmental gauged brick window arches with a more pronounced camber. The windows are fitted with iron-framed small pane glazing, and the ground floor window arches feature keystones. There are later 19th-century pivot hoists, and the riverfront includes a wall-mounted pivot derrick.
