Description

This is an 1880s warehouse, part of the New Crane Wharf complex in Wapping Wall. It is a large, six-story brick building with thirteen bays. The warehouse is constructed of stock brick, with white brick dressings around the window reveals and segmental window arches. The windows are fitted with iron framed glazing. The elevation facing the yard has one single and two pairs of “hatch ranks,” while the river-facing elevation, one bay shorter, has a plain parapet instead of the moulded brick modillion cornice and blocking course found elsewhere. A deep, Italianate moulded brick cornice runs along the top. New Crane Wharf forms a sequence with other warehouses and wharves, including the ‘A’ warehouse at Metropolitan Wharf.
