Description
Jubilee Wharf is a three-storey stock brick warehouse built around 1850-1860, located on Wapping Wall. The building is contiguous with Metropolitan Wharf to the east but has its riverfront set back. It features five bays plus a sixth recessed bay on Wapping Wall, while the river frontage has only five bays. The warehouse has a rendered parapet with plain coping along the street, but the river front retains a frieze cornice and blocking course.
There are four bays of segmental gauged brick arched windows with iron framed glazing on wooden casements and Portland stone sills. The fifth bay on the western end contains a hatch rank. Notably, there is a pair of original cast iron pivot hoists with circular bracing in the spandrels. The set-back sixth bay at the eastern end also contains a hatch rank and features the same type of hoist. The river elevation has undergone some alterations to the fenestration and has had crane boxes and framing added, although the cranes have been removed.
