Description
No 52 on East India Dock Road, built around 1840, is a three-storey office building known as the Westminster Bank and ILEA Careers Office. The exterior is stuccoed and features rusticated quoins. It has a balustraded parapet above a bracketed eaves cornice, with a band below the eaves and at the second-floor sill height. The façade includes six windows, with a recessed one-window portion on the east side. Flanking porches are supported by fluted Doric columns, and there are balustraded parapets, entablatures with friezes, and cornices. The round-headed, panelled doors are set in rusticated surrounds and have fanlights above them. Engaged pillars are positioned between the windows, with those on the first floor featuring pediments. No 52, along with its garden wall, gate piers, and railings, forms a group with Nos 54 and 58.
