Description
The Star of the East Public House dates to the 19th century and is one building, now occupied as two separate businesses. It is constructed of red brick and tile, with a central hipped slate roof featuring cresting. The building is three storeys high and has three sets of windows on each floor. The top floor features a central five-light window flanked by three-light windows. The first floor has a central three-light window with two-light windows on either side. Stone-filled tympana, decorated with gothic arches and roundels containing masks, are above all windows except for the top outer windows. The windows are plain sashes, without glazing bars. Decorative tiles are positioned above impost bands on the facade. The ground floor retains its pub front, although part is now used as a cafe. The interior contains notable features. The public house, together with numbers 795 to 805 (odd) and the lamp standards in front, forms a group.
