Description
Pope John House is a 19th-century Victorian building of Tudor design, situated on East India Dock Road. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and a slate roof, featuring a corner tower with coped gables and a parapet. The road-facing facade has two storeys and a basement, presenting two windows with mullions, transoms, and leaded lights. The elevation is best viewed from the adjacent recreation ground. A later chapel has been added to the building. Pope John House, along with the piers and wall to Poplar Recreation Ground, the memorial within the recreation ground, and number 133 and its piers opposite, form a group of related structures.
