Description
The monument to Henry Daniel, located in Nunhead Cemetery, was created around 1867 in memory of Henry Daniel, who died in the same year. Made of stone, it is situated in Section D, just west of the chapel and along a main path. The monument features a heavily draped vestal figure standing on a base adorned with garlands and cherub heads at the corners. This base is supported by a plinth with inverted torches at the angles, echoing the design of the entrance gate piers. The plot is bordered with Grecian scrolls and honeysuckle ornamentation. Henry Daniel served as a mason for the London Cemetery Company, which managed Nunhead Cemetery and operated workshops near the entrances to both Nunhead and Highgate Cemeteries. His monument is a lavish display that showcases his artistic talents.
