Description
East Lodge at Nunhead Cemetery is a cemetery lodge built around 1840 by James Bunning for the London Cemetery Company. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a stone roof, which is not visible. It has a square plan and is a single storey over a basement. The side and rear elevations each have three window ranges, while the front elevation has a central porch flanked by one window on either side. There is a full-height extension, which is now roofless, that includes a two-window range to the south and a bay window to the north, both added at a later date. East Lodge was built as a pair with West Lodge, located to the right of the gates.
